The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.
The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
